A charged coat that wraps every edge of a piece evenly, instead of running thin off the corners the way a sprayed coat can.

The coat wraps the piece because it is charged, not just sprayed

Electrostatic finishing starts with surface cleaning and priming, the same as any real paint job, but the spraying step works differently. The paint particles carry an electrical charge as they leave the gun, and the piece being coated is grounded, so the charged particles get pulled toward every surface of it, including the sides and edges a straight spray tends to miss or run thin over. That produces an even coating in one pass rather than a coat that is thick on the face and thin on the return edge. We handle surface preparation and equipment setup ourselves, and we run different spray gun types depending on the piece, since a flat panel and an open wrought iron scroll do not want the same gun or the same distance.

What that evenness buys the client after the truck leaves

The advantages line up with the process. Efficient application and reduced waste come from the charge itself doing part of the work instead of overspray landing on the floor. A uniform coating and a consistent finish mean less touch-up later, and better adhesion means a stronger bond between the coat and the metal, which matters most on a piece that will sit outside in direct sun for years. There are real environmental benefits too, since electrostatic coating uses less solvent than a conventional spray job. We finish architectural pieces, automotive components, consumer goods and industrial equipment this way, and it is the finish we recommend on any custom ironwork headed for a San Antonio summer, where UV does more damage to a poor coat over a season than most owners expect.

Fabrication and finishing were never going to be two different vendors

Most of what gets electrostatically coated here left our own welding tables first, whether that is a gate leaf, a run of guardrail, or a one-off piece out of custom fabrication. Keeping the coating in-house means the finisher already knows where the welds are and where the piece will actually take the most weather, instead of coating a part it has never seen the design for. We also take in coating-only work for metal fabricated elsewhere, provided it can be cleaned and grounded properly for the process.
