A gate is the one part of a fence line everyone actually looks at
The vineyard gate in our gallery, the one with the hand-scrolled grapevine and grape clusters framing the owner's monogram, is the clearest example of what this shop can draw and weld when a client wants something nobody else has. That is custom gate work: driveway gates, double gates, pedestrian gates, security gates, sliding gates and swing gates, in whatever material the property calls for, from plain steel to aluminum to full wrought iron. Customization runs deeper than the material choice. We work out access control, automation, decorative elements, hinges and latches, locks and overall design as one job, not as separate line items bolted on afterward. A driveway gate for a residential entry gets designed differently than a security gate for a commercial yard or a farm-and-ranch entrance, and we design to the application rather than handing every customer the same panel in a different width.
Certified installers, not a fence crew that also hangs gates
We are certified gate and access control installers, which matters once a gate carries hardware and not just weight. A driveway or security gate is frequently paired with an operator, covered on our gate operators and access systems page, and we design the leaf and the operator together so the swing radius, the hinge load and the power run all agree with each other before install day rather than getting reconciled on site. The gate almost never matches the rest of the fence by accident
A driveway gate at the front of a wood privacy fence, a security gate cut into a chain-link perimeter, a pedestrian gate set into a wrought iron run: each one has to carry more weight and take more use than the fence panels around it, so we do not just copy the fence material into a gate shape. Hinges, latches and frame gauge get sized to how often the gate actually opens, and material gets chosen for that traffic first and the look of the rest of the fence second. A wide gate leaf has to survive spring wind, not just its own weight
Spring in San Antonio brings hail and real wind load, and a double driveway gate is effectively a sail once it is hung. A leaf sized without that in mind sags at the hinge or racks out of square within a couple of storm seasons. We size the frame and pick the hinge hardware for the wind the gate will actually catch, not just the weight it hangs at rest, which is a large part of why a gate we hung stays square years after it goes up.
